We come today to celebrate the life of Thelma Maxine Collier, who was born June 7th, 1925 in Coweta, Oklahoma, to Tesley Lantz and Ethel (Ireland) Lantz.

She attended Coweta High school and graduated in 1943, and married R. Z. Smith that year. They had five children: Glenda, Jimmy, Gary, and Gail and Sharon.

Maxine worked at Midwestern Instruments for several years.

She later married John Collier on February 8, 1964, in Claremore, Oklahoma, and they soon moved to Broken Arrow. She kept the books and payroll for their concrete business.

In 1988, she began her career as a practical nurse, sitting and caring with the elderly at home. In her later years, she enjoyed solving cryptograms and other intricate puzzles. Her favorite pastime was playing with her grandchildren, great grandchildren, and her great, great grandchildren.

On Saturday, September 1, 2018 at the age of 93, she went to be with the Lord. She was living at the Franciscan Villa in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Tesley and Ethel Lantz and six siblings: Jesse Evert Lantz, Eldridge Selby Lantz, Lessie Elizabeth Lantz, Lester E. Lantz, Oma Jean Chancy, and Loretta Dorene Day, two daughters: Gail (Larry) Pruitt and Sharon Smith, and husband, John T. Collier.

She is survived by Glenda (Kenneth) Deatherage of Broken Arrow, Rev. Jimmy Smith (Jalna Oliver) of Inola, Dr. Rev. Gary (Jo Ann) Smith of Broken Arrow, 12 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, 14 great great grandchildren, loving nieces and nephews, 2 stepsons Johnnie (Janet) Collier, and Tommy Collier, as well as, a host of relatives and friends.
