Obituary

Virginia was born on June 14th, 1929 in McAlester, OK.  She was the daughter of Martin Turner and Virgie Mae Savage.

After graduating from High School in 1947, she started working as a secretary at the Pittsburg County Courthouse in McAlester, OK.   She met her husband, Wilbur, when he moved to McAlester.  They were married on Feb 25, 1953 and moved to Tulsa when he accepted a position as an Electronics Engineer with McDonnell Douglas.

They had 3 children:  Teresa, Susan and Mark.

Virginia loved raising her family.  She was a homeroom mother while her children were in elementary school and Cheerleading Coordinator while Teresa and Susan were in junior high.

After Wilbur's retirement, she and Wilbur co-managed the Holiday Inn in Henryetta.  They were active members of the Lions Club in Henryetta and she was named State Lioness of the year in 1987.

After working at the Holiday Inn, she was an administrative assistant with Lindley Enterprises in Tulsa until she retired.

She was always ready for an adventure and loved going on trips.  She especially enjoyed going on cruises with her sisters and aunt.   Her other favorite vacation spot was Branson.  She enjoyed music, reading, crossword puzzles, needlepoint, gardening, Broadway musicals, and movies.

She entertained us with funny songs like "The Mountaineer and the Jabberwock" and poems she knew by heart.

Survivors include her 3 children:  Teresa Chandler, Susan Cameron, Mark Care and his wife Joi. Grandchildren:  Collin Steele,  Cresta Steele,  Sarah Vickers, Kimberly Cameron, Benjamin Bartholic, Sam Chambers, Kenneth Chambers.  Great Grandchildren: Jay McNeal, Taylor Vickers, Bailey Vickers, Chase Vickers, Maya Bartholic and Skye Bartholic.   Plus many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents Martin and Virgie Savage, her husband Wilbur Care, brothers: Adrian, Guy, Jack and sisters: Mary Ruth Lindley, Rebecca Adams.
