Vivian Lucille (Adams) Wood, 95 years old, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, October 12, 2019.
Vivian was preceded in death by her parents Odbert and Lura Adams; her husband Dale; and her brother OR Adams of Eakly, OK. She is survived by her four children: son Ron, and wife April; son Don, and wife Tammy; son Druce; and daughter Tyla Crawford, and husband Marcell; eleven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Vivian Lucille Adams was born on December 4, 1923, in Eakly, Oklahoma, the second of four children. While attending Eakly High School, she met the love of her life Dale Wood, whom she married on May 26, 1946, after he returned from World War II. In 1946, the newlyweds moved to Norman, Oklahoma to begin their life together. After moving to several towns within Oklahoma, in 1957, they settled in Tulsa where they remained for the rest of their lives.
In addition to raising four children together, Vivian, a licensed realtor, and her late husband Dale, were very active real estate investors who enjoyed buying, renovating, selling, and renting properties for many decades. She was a devout Christian who was an active member of Boston Avenue United Methodist Church for almost 60 years. During this time Vivian, along with her husband Dale, served in many leadership roles for their Sunday School Class. They had a very active social life primarily focused around their family and church, where they were members of the original Boston Avenue Squares square-dance club. They also enjoyed round dancing, playing "moon" with dominoes, and traveling the world while creating everlasting memories with family and friends. Additionally, they enjoyed their second home on Grand Lake where Vivian spent countless hours trying to catch the perfect fish! Vivian and Dale were greatly blessed with an enormous number of friends over their lives. Vivian spent the last years of her life at Oklahoma Methodist manor, enjoying friends, family and her much-loved dog Abby.
A celebration of Vivian's life is scheduled for 2:00pm, followed by a reception on Saturday, October 19, 2019 at Stanley's Funeral Home, 3959 E. 31st Street, Tulsa, OK 74135. Visitation is Friday, October 18, 2019 from 12:00-8:00 pm, Family Greeting Friends is Friday, October 18, from 6:00-8:00pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Vivian's memory to Oklahoma Methodist Manor or Boston Avenue United Methodist Church.
