William "Billy" Dean McLurkin was the first child born unto Verina and William McLurkin. He quickly became the favored grandchild of both grandmothers, Cleo Austin and Helen McLurkin. Billy graduated from Moreno Valley High School in 1982 where his trumpet and tuba playing were showcased during the Rose Bowl Parade. Billy was known for his exceptional intelligence - learning multiple languages including Spanish, Japanese and German. It was during his time in high school that Billy accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior.

After graduating from high school, Billy moved from California to Tulsa, Oklahoma. He worked in the hotel industry and as a suicide prevention counselor until his health issues became too much. Billy was an avid cook, and he enjoyed making dishes from around the world. Most importantly, Billy remained active in his church and continued to serve Jesus Christ.

William "Billy" Dean McLurkin was called Home to be with his Heavenly Father on December 14, 2020. He was preceded in death by his father, William Robert McLurkin; his sister, Seantee McLurkin; his grandparents, Helen and William Jason McLurkin, Cleo Austin and Denyfeaus Elliott; his aunt and uncle, Edna and Henry Jackson and his first cousin, Mark Jackson. He is survived by his mother, Verina McLurkin; his sisters, Sanci (Julius) Patterson, Denise McLurkin and Danielle (Jobe) Guillory; his aunt and uncle, Jacqueline and Leon Burks; and his first cousins, Sachi (Tyrone) Nero, Keith (Leticia) Jackson, Taryn, Kendall and Derek Burks. He is also survived by his great uncles, Thomas McLurkin, Robert (Myrtle) McLurkin, Robert (Mariko) Anderson, Marshall Anderson, Paul (Merlinda) Anderson, Howard Anderson; and his great aunt, Janie O'Gorman; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
